Recycling paper: Angel of newspaper tubes

Before proceeding to the weaving, we need to crap newspaper tubes.
For this we need newspapers, scissors, PVA glue, and a wooden skewer.

For the production of roses it took me: fabric (you can silk, crepe, satin, brocade, satin, etc.), sturdy rigid wire, a thin copper wire, cardboard (for patterns), soldering iron with sharp tip), glass, glue Melt, scissors, candle.

Make cardboard patterns are: rose petals (all the petals will be the same size), leaves (two sizes), and leaves of the lower rim.

In order to make a ball for you:
- Newspapers
- Threads
- Corrugated paper red

- Toothpicks.

First make a blank. To do this, take a few sheets of newspaper

I was happy to see the response to the covered jar lids and pencils post from a few days ago. It seems I am not the only one who saves paper scraps and needs a use for them. I have a few more projects up my sleeve here. First, I made some paper garlands which can be use for gift wrap or party decorations. Second, I made several different birthday cards all using cut paper collage. They go nicely together and make for a festive gift or party! When collecting papers, don’t overlook newspaper, wrapping paper, envelope liners, notebook and grid papers.

I take the tape, divide it in half and mark the middle of a pencil. Carefully enclose the ends of the tape to the marked middle, it turns out "eight".

Tutorial: How To Make Tissue Flowers

I currently have a project underway that requires tissue flowers. You'll find out more about that Friday. But for now, I thought I would share how to make tissue flowers. I know there's many ways to make them but this technique seems to work best.

I had planned to show a flower I made with the accordion fold method (for comparison) but my son got to it first. He was dipping it in his juice and pretending it was peeing. Apparently he has my creative spirit.

Valentine's Marshmallow Pops

 

Here's a Valentine's treat that is super easy, and perfect to send along with your little sweeties to share with their friends.  My daughter's love to help make these.  I've made them several times (and for different holidays by simply changing the sprinkles) after seeing the idea several years ago on Grace Violet.

All you need...

One bag of Strawberry Marshmallows

Chocolate

Sprinkles

Lollipop sticks

Small cellophane bags (if you want to wrap them up)

~ Directions ~

1.  Push a lollipop stick into each marshmallow.

2.  Melt some chocolate (chocolate chips are not recommended)  I usually use Ghirardelli chocolate (found in the baking aisle).  You will probably need 4-8 oz. of chocolate, depending on how many marshmallows you dip.

3.  Dip one marshmallow at a time into the chocolate.

4.  Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then sprinkle your choice of sprinkles onto the chocolate.

5.  Set the marshmallow pop (stick down) in a mug to allow the chocolate to set (you can put the mug of pops in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes)

6.  Once the chocolate is set, if desired, wrap each pop in a small cellophane bag.

7.  Share with friends =)

Folded Paper Flowers For A Simply Festive Centerpiece!

You may have a hard time believing that I actually used these pink and gold flowers for Bar Mitzvah centerpieces last week, but I did! As I always say, who says pink is just for girls? And since the only other alternative to the pink paper was a tacky dark green, well, I think you'll understand why I went with the pink! And I should mention that I actually thought the paper was something closer to purple when I bought it!
That said, the centerpieces were a hit and added a shot of joyful color to an elegant yet simple affair. And the best part is, now I have half of what I need to decorate tables for a women's Purim party next week, as well as something to share with you!
Here are a few quick photos I took at the actual event, but was too embarrassed to spend time styling them, so they're not the greatest photos, but you can see how I lucked out with the centerpieces somehow matching the tablecloths and natural wood chairs really well! And in case you're wondering, the pots are plastic from the dollar store, and spray painted silver. (I'll show those to you another time)


If you've been following the blog for awhile, you may remember these flowers when I first wrote about them at Succos time. Those original flowers however were all one color, whereas in this version I've not only used two colors but also added a small piece of fabric or paper for the center. That center piece was pre-cut, before being accordion folded together with the two layers of paper. I used the same idea in the photo below showing how I made some additional filler flowers from disposable tablecloth material and some scraps of gold paper.
